Why are some words not valid?
We often receive questions about words that seem correct but are marked as invalid in the game. A common example includes words like Maria, July, London, and other proper nouns.
This is not a bug or mistake in the game. Proper nouns (such as names of people, cities, brands, etc.) are not accepted as valid words.
These words usually trigger a red message in the game indicating they are not valid, even though they may be spelled correctly. This happens because, by definition, proper nouns are not part of the general vocabulary used in word games like ours, which rely on standard, widely used dictionaries.
In addition to proper nouns, we also do not accept:
- Very old or archaic words that are no longer used in everyday language;
- Words that are highly inappropriate or offensive by nature;
-
Extremely regional slang or terms that are not broadly recognized across the country.
Our goal is to keep the game accessible, fun, and fair for all players, regardless of region or knowledge level.
If you type a word and receive this invalid word message, we recommend checking whether it falls into one of these categories. If it doesn’t, and you believe the word should be accepted, feel free to contact us by going to Settings > Contact Us — we’re always happy to hear from the community and improve the game!
